Ad Hoc Labs – Switching Basics (Volume 1 Part 2)

 In Ad Hoc Labs, Hands-on

Over at my YouTube channel, I’ve created some labs that exist solely as videos plus a Cisco Packet Tracer .pkt file. The video begins with instructions. Then pause the video, download the .pkt file, and complete the lab using CPT. If you want more guidance or insights, watch the rest of the lab for commentary and a demo.

The Ad Hoc Labs have been popular, along with the Config Labs (labs described in blog posts).  But it occurred to me that if you come to the blog site, do not visit my YouTube channel, and do not notice the Ad Hoc Labs, you could miss out on them! So I’ve made a series of posts introducing the current topics of Ad Hoc Labs on my YouTube Channel. This one introduces labs related to content in Volume 1, Part 2 of the CCNA Official Cert Guides. Enjoy!

Ad Hoc Labs for This Book Part

I could have just asked you to try some show mac address-table commands. Instead, I turned the lab into a puzzle that you solve with that command!

We all need to learn the basics of the Cisco CLI at some point. This Ad Hoc lab helps you become disciplined and start creating standard configurations you will likely use whenever labbing as part of your Cisco certification studies.

This lab starts with six broken WAN links! Your job: Investigate the problems, find the root causes, and bring the links up.

Unlike most Ad Hoc labs, this one asks you to use the free Pearson Network Simulator Lite, a simulator that you get with the CCNA Official Cert Guide, Volume 1. That simulator embeds the lab exercise into the Sim’s user interface. Check out the video to find your way!
